Gold Medallist at the recently concluded Summer Olympics in London and five times World Rowing Champion Mahe Drysdale arrived in Sri Lanka for a short visit in October, at the invitation of t-sips which has fostered and supported rowing in Sri Lanka for many years. 33-year-old Drysdale, representing New Zealand, won the gold medal in the men’s single sculls, recording a timing of six minutes and 57.82 seconds. He was also officially selected as New Zealand’s Olympic heavyweight sculler in 2008 and was the flag bearer at the parade of nations in the opening ceremony at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

Drysdale said, “I consider it my privilege to be able to share my knowledge and experience in rowing and help the sportsmen and women of Sri Lanka achieve great heights and make their country proud of them.”
