The 2013 Calendar of Elephant Reach Hotel which adjoins the Yala National Park was designed from the artwork of the students of Sri Devananda Vidyalaya, Yodakandiya in the Hambantota District.

The Calendar was a concept of Malinga Fernando, Director of Lanka Hotels and Travels. The students of Sri Devananda Vidyalaya were invited to capture the beauty of Yala and its amazing wildlife, and the resulting artwork was carefully selected to provide a representation of the diversity of nature. This exercise provided opportunities for all students to discover that drawing can help inspire creative thinking, communicate with others, and also have fun in the process.

The Principal of Sri Devananda Vidyalaya, W Ramyalatha expressed her gratitude and said that the creation of this Calendar was a valuable opportunity for the students to showcase their talents.

Elephant Reach Hotel launched this community-based project in order to increase their collaboration with the community and the school. Valuable presents were given to the students who participated in the event.
